Who is this "Skorobeus" character?
My name... is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father... prepare to die.
Well, ok... So my name is really Kevin Murphy, and the only exposure I've had to fencing involved the kind that surrounds a yard.
I've been using Python since the dawn of time, when v1.5 was an amazing new thing and the world rejoiced and all that. I had to learn it shortly after starting a new job, when a coworker and good friend was tasked with starting a new project and the old-school Unix-world Project Manager we worked with had insisted that it be done in Perl. Well, my coworker, (bless his soul) refused to spend more than a day trying to do anything in Perl, so he somehow managed to come across this Python thing that was a scripting language, along the lines of Perl, but without any of the cruft. So we started working on the project using Python, and the rest... as they say, is history.
The IRC channel I've been hanging out in for many many years had an Infobot, appropriately named "regurg" because about the only thing he ever did was regurgitate things people in the channel had said, when he wasn't crashing or being otherwise annoying. Eventually, the person who ran regurg left our channel and I decided to try this Infobot thing... I mean, how bad could it be... right? Thus was born my desire to create a Python based bot. My attempts at running an Infobot were even worse than regurg because I didn't know thing 1 about Perl, and didn't care to learn. So I started the project I called Pythobot and actually got pretty far with it before I had to focus my attention elsewhere and it kind of fell by the wayside for a while.
Fast forward to about 6 months ago, when I was looking for an excuse to start working on Pythobot again, and someone in my channel said 'Hey, why don't you look at this Supybot project I found on Sourceforge?' I did just that, and was frankly shocked by the fact that the website had things like... documentation and recent information and like... an active bug reporting system. I downloaded it, tried it out, and popped into #supybot on Freenode to tell everyone how thrilled I was. That's when I met jemfinch, jamessan and the gang.
Since then, I've been actively involved in the Supybot community, and I'm really looking forward to all the places this new community-oriented site will take us and the Supybot project!

Other Things I Do
- I host about a dozen domains for friends and family, totally non-profit and just because I like to do it and I enjoy getting the experience...
- I like to work on anything electronic and otherwise, I'm actually pretty handy. I can do home improvement work, I can get inside a car engine, and I can rice out a computer like nobody's business. :) (Tastefully, of course!)
- I'm currently un-employed but actively seeking a new job. (Anyone with sys-admin or application engineer opportunities in the NJ area, drop me a line!)
- I love music. I will listen to just about anything once, and just about everything hundreds of times!
- I'm a huge gadget whore. Some of my crowning acheivements of late are:
- My pair of SliMP3s
- My iPod Photo
- My Logitech Harmony 688 Universal Remote
- And many, many other things :)
- I've got way more computers than any reasonable person should have under one roof, but I actually have everyday uses for 95% of them!
Can't think of anything else pertinent right now, but if I do, I'll be sure to add it, as I'm certain all one of you who will read this will actually care. ;)
Thanks buddy.
