Hi,

I'm wondering if people are interested in adding an optional driver for silc support. I've just recently written some python bindings for silc (not released yet, but will be soon) and I've written an emulating driver that mimicks simple IRC commands so that irclib doesn't need to be changed at all.

It's working now, but I'm still experimenting as there are some things that don't work. One of the two most significant differences with SILC and IRC is that SILC doesn't require a "#" in the channel name and that nick collisions are allowed and treated at the client. If you have multiple nicks in the same channel, people will see the latter one as nick@host rather than nick.

Thanks,

Alastair,

I'm interested in silc support. It doesn't look like many other people are though.

How far along have you gotten with it now?

EDIT: So I just found this:
http://projects.liquidx.net/python/browser/pysilc

Looks like someone is already working on integrating silc into supybot.

EDIT: And it looks like the someone is you. :) Care to explain how to import the silc driver you have into an existing installation of subpybot? I'd be glad to beta test for you. Although I'm not sure you're even checking posts here anymore...
