We need a Supybot logo!

Document Actions
We may be decent programmers, but we're not artists. Are you artistic? Here's how you can help.

We're looking for a new logo for Supybot, as well as a new nameplate, both to go along with this brand-spanking new website.

A logo is a graphic, preferably with no words, which is representative of something. It's not the word "Supybot" like we have at the upper left corner right now--that's a nameplate. A logo is something like the Debian "swirl" or the NetBSD "flag" or the Plone "three dots inside a circle" graphic. These are logos.

A nameplate, on the other hand, is basically a stylization of name in question. Like you see above to the left--"Supybot" is written in a very stylized form. That's a nameplate.

We're looking for both a logo and a nameplate. That nameplate was generated by me (jemfinch) in just a couple minutes at Cooltext.com . It's not expected to be permanent. Please, if you can do better, by all means, submit it.

We're also in need of a logo--something that can be associated with Supybot without using words. We've come up with an idea, but none of us is graphically inclined enough actually to implement it. We're thinking of a snake eating an egg. Snakes are well-known to eat eggs on occasion--every primary school kid has seen the picture of a snake wrapping its jaws around an egg at least once. Since Supybot is written in Python, a snake-based logo seems appropriate. Additionally, since one of Supybot's primary competitors is the Eggdrop bot, it seems appropriate for our snake (Python, the power of our source) to be eating an egg (representative of Eggdrop). One especially nice thing about snakes, incidentally, is that they can make swell "S" shapes. So we're thinking a snake in an S shape eating an egg. I (jemfinch still) have put up an example of how we imagine the head eating the egg.

Please, help us out of our graphical malaise!

Icon proposition

Hi there, here,

I made something like you've asked..

I think it's quite good, even if i do say so myself. I realise it doesn't fit in with your website scheme here, but I had to make the snake green... and then had to make the text green, because it wasn't reading properly.

Tara!

If you want you can take the logo I made for lulubot, or something similar. That project is not active anymore and I like that bot face you can see on http://lulubot.berlios.de/.

As a bot is sortof a persona, we may want to know what it looks like, and that can become a decent logo if properly stylized.

Here's my offering:
Logo: http://supybot.com/Members/zhynn/supybotlogo/image_view
Icon: http://supybot.com/Members/zhynn/supyboticon/image_view
Circular Button:http://supybot.com/Members/zhynn/Supybotcirclebtn/image_view
Square Button: http://supybot.com/Members/zhynn/Supybotsquarebtn/image_view

As you can see, I used the python logo to construct the supybot logo. No eggs though, I didn't think it would look good.

(Why don't links work in posts?)
